DERBY Rules

  • All rules of 2023 - 2024 fishing proclamation will be followed.  
  • All participants must have a valid Utah fishing license.
  • Possession limit is 4 fish.
  • Check-in starts at 6:30 a.m.  
  • Derby begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 12 p.m.
  • Derby will begin by sound producing device.
  • No holes may be drilled until 8 am.  No lines may be in the water until 8 am.
  • All ATV’s, Snowmobiles, OHV’s will be allowed prior to 8 a.m., and after 12 p.m., but are not allowed at any time during derby hours.
  • All fish must be freshly caught and brought to a measuring station within 30 mins of being caught.
  • Fish must be gilling when registered/measured to be eligible for tournament prizes.
  • Fish length will be measured to determine the biggest fish.  Ties will be awarded to the first fish registered.
  • All fish must be in line to be measured by 2 pm to be counted for the derby.
  • Tournament hosts will measure fish at the measuring stations.  Their decision will be final and not disputed.  All fish will be measured to the nearest 1/4 inch.
  • Participants may only place once for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place winnings. Participants placing in the top 4 spots will not qualify for the hourly prize during that hour.
  • Participants may not place in the top 4 spots two consecutive years in a row, i.e., The top four winners from 2021 will not be eligible for the top four spots in 2022, the top four winners in 2022 will not be eligible for the top four spots in 2023, etc. This rule will apply retroactively to the win
  • Prize money is based on 150 participant spots.  If 150 spots are not filled, prize money will be changed to percentages of total entry fees collected. 1st-20%, 2nd-15%, 3rd-10%.
  • Fish will be eligible for hourly prizes based on time registered, not time caught.  For example, if a fish is caught at 8:55 a.m., but registered at 9:02 a.m., then it would be eligible for the 9-10 a.m. prize bracket.
  • Participants may use one line (pole) while in the derby.  Second line use may be purchased at time of check-in for $10.
  • Party fishing is not allowed.
  • There will be no refunds issued.  Registrations are non-transferrable.
  • In the event of unsafe or inclement weather conditions decided by fins and fur.  The derby will be postponed and rescheduled to a later date.
  • Fins and Fur staff decisions will be final and may not be disputed.

Come join us on February 17, 2024 for your chance to win some great prizes and serious CASH!  Cash prizes will be paid out to 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place as well as an hourly prize for biggest fish.  You will also be entered into a raffle to be held after the derby!  We are excited to have Cabela's, Sportsman's Warehouse, and Aqua-Vu as tournament sponsors, as they have only the best to offer in fishing and outdoor equipment.


1st place:  $1,200

2nd place:  $850

3rd place:  $600

4th place:  $350

Biggest Smallmouth: $100

Biggest Wiper: $100

Hourly Biggest Fish:  $150/hour



Registration: $50/participant.  Includes one raffle ticket.  Additional raffle tickets may be purchased at check-in.  Raffle prizes include:   Powered Ice Auger, Ice Fishing Tent, Fish Finder, Gift Cards, Fishing Equipment, Cash, etc...
